Apparently the Red Cross have a huge archive collection which could help identify many soldiers buried in graves marked "known unto God".

It seems that it is not that no-one knew of this archive, but that the Red Cross is now allowing access to it , following a request by Peter Barton. It is basically the German records of all casualties that they buried, whether their own, Allied, or POWs.

Presumably it won't help if even those who buried a casualty could not identify him, but it will help if the Germans did know the identity but the grave location was never marked and only given to the Red Cross.

If it hadn't have been for our "bulldog" friend Lambis Englezos and Fromelles ... Peter Barton wouldn't have been in the Red Cross Archives in the first place !! :)

Serendipity has been at work here ..... I sincerely hope it continues !!
