I'm trying to do some research on behalf of my Godfather, Alan Hunns 22978661. He joined up on December 9th 1953 and did his basic training at Blandford. He went to Borden in June 1954 for further training and in September 1954 went to Tidworth on attachment to the 10th Royal Hussars. In January 1956 he sailed on the S.S. Empire Ken as part of an advanced party to Jordan, and was stationed at Ma'an with the 10th Royal Hussars until his 'de-mob' in early 1957. Whilst in Ma'an he lost friends & comrades in an air crash at Aqabar, both from the XRH & R.E.M.E., and in 1956 was involved in a military vehicle accident that claimed the life of his good friend George Roberts (R.E.M.E) George was airlifted to a military hospital in Cyprus where he died of his injuries. If anyone served during this time and remembers my Godfather he would love for you to get in touch via my email (he hasn't quite caught up with the technological age although I've almost got him there.) Many thanks for taking the time to read this even if you can't help ((I apologise for the non use of capitals in the header........I know it should be R.E.M.E.............thank goodness my g'dad ain't into pc's yet :-s))
