I haven't seen it before, John and it makes interesting reading...when the writing can be read!

I wonder if this was in any way linked with the searcher teams that were active after the war.

Andy, I was amazed at the depth of some of the reports had gone to, to explain what had happen. You could be right about the searchers as there seemed to be a lot of details.

John, if you ever come across a book called The Searchers by Jim Eames, grab it. It's a book about the RAAF guys who did the searching for the lost crew after the war. Quite moving and, to some extent, the searching continues.

I saw it here recently, but I'll be stuffed if I can remember where. Will keep my eyes open for it.

Most of these are represented on Memorials in Labuan, Ambon et al. Those with no known grave make up a great portion of RAAF deaths.

There are 1386 RAAF members memorialised on the Runnymede memorial in Surrey UK.

    Hello Spidge,

Thanks for the info re Memorials.
Reading the NAA report, I had no idea the amount of effort the RAAF took to find out what had happen to the Pilots and Crews of missing aircrafts. It was a job well done

    Hi John,

Considering our position with NZ at the other end of the world, our RAAF have plenty to be proud of.

I have attached a list from my research on where RAAF/WAAF men and women are buried or memorialised.

This list has since been updated as I have found another 200 Australians who joined the RAF and are lised as UK deaths on the CWGC site.

The list should now read about 11,100 deaths in 1075 cemeteries in 65 countries.

Spidge's next question, John, will be "Where are you in Australia and are you near any cemeteries?"!

We've all been contributing with photos and it's a mighty fine project that Spidge has taken on - huge one though.
