Attached is a form that my father kept after the war. He did a tour on Hampden's as a wireless operator/air gunner and a tour on Lancaster's as a wireless operator.

Can anyone clarify what is reported here? I don't think it involves weather as headings and courses to be flown are noted.

Is it an historical log of a flight? To me, it seems as though he's recorded their course changes as they've happened?

    And the reverse side.

    Hi David,

I'm just about to head out, but at first glance the log is of more than meteorological significance.

For starters there are references to the "Q Codes" and whilst some of those are met related such as QFE (Field elevation) others relate to other operational aspects QDM (Magnetic bearing to a station) and QDR (Mag bng from a station).

    Gotta run.

    Cheers
