Hi all I knock off work today at midday before we fly to Melbourne to spend time with Jodi's family (will be on email but probably not on here till 31st). I have a meeting at 1100 so might not get the chance to get on here before I have to shoot off so I'd like to say Merry Christmas to everyone on here and their families. Many, many thanks for the thousands of great posts and great reading and for the camaraderie. I have learnt a lot, dribbled much and laughed often so here's to 2008, our first full year as a forum! :clapping: Cheers, mates. :grouphug:
Best wishes Andy, I hope you and your family have a very Happy Christmas and a peaceful New Year. See you after the holiday. ATB Hugh
Have a great holiday mate. You certainly deserve some time to relax. And Merry Christmas to all Chat Members. Thank you all for your contributions to date. You've made this forum a great, friendly place.
That's made me panic! I normally plan Christmas like a military operation but I haven't even bought all of the presents, never mind thought of wrapping them. I have only just written the Christmas cards, not even thought about the baking and .... and .... and .... ..... a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all of you. I have certainly learned loads and enjoyed your company, particularly in the wee small hours!!!! Heres to 2008 - may WW2Chat go from strength to strength!!!

I, Morse1001, do beg to grave the momentary indulgence of the Reader in order to discharge a by no means disagreeable obligation, which has over the years become more or less established practise, within the WWW.WW2chat.com circles in which we move, as we approach the terminal period of the year – calendar, of course not financial – in fact, not to put too fine a point on it, week fifty one of the year – and we should like to submit to the Reader with all appropriate deference, for his consideration at a convenient juncture, a sincere and sanguine expectation, indeed confidence, indeed one might go so far as to say hope that the aforementioned period may, at the end of the day, when all relevant factors have been taken into consideration, be susceptible of being deemed as such as to merit a verdict of having been by no means unsatisfactory in its overall outcome and, in the final analysis, to give grounds for being judged, on mature reflection, to have been conducive, to generating a degree of gratification, relaxation and celebration which will be seen in retrospect to have been significantly higher than the general average.
I won't be home for Christmas. I won't be home for Christmas.... I am among the thousands of Americans who served in uniform in Iraq and Afghanistan who are now gone. Many who survived their wounds will never be whole. Many will have life expectancies far shorter than others their age who never served in uniform... never seeing the same number of Christmases to come. I am among the millions of Americans who served in uniform during WW2 who are now gone... and it is estimated that less than eleven percent of the men and women who served during WW2 are alive today, with more than a thousand passing away each day. I am among the tens of thousands of Americans who served in uniform in Korea who are now gone... and it is estimated that less than four percent of the men and women who served in Korea are alive today, with more than seven hundred passing away each day. I am among the hundreds of thousands of Americans who served in uniform in Vietnam who are now gone... and it is estimated that less than one-third of the men and women who served in Vietnam are alive today, with more than a two hundred passing away each day. I and those with me won't be home for Christmas. Please always remember us... and those who will join us before next Christmas... Signed, The Unforgotten Soldier
Least you lot get snow. I just get hypothermia. You'd think a ski jacket AND thermals would keep me warm wouldn't you. Ah well, least the rain is back.
Compliments of the Season to all and my very good wishes for a Happy, Healthy & Peaceful New Year Ron
