    Unusually, this man played for Great Britain on their Australian tour in 1899, but not for England, his home country.

    Charles Adamson was born in 1875? Husband of Katharine Adamson.

    Played as a Fly half for: Durham

    Profession: Hotel Proprietor? A notice in the Gazette of 23 October 1917 advises that the partnership of John Adamson, William Henry Wood and Charles Young Adamson, trading as Hotel Proprietors and Sprits Merchants in Durham is dissolved.

    War service: Captain, 6th Battalion, Royal Scots Fusiliers. The 6th Battalion was amalgamated with the 7th to form the 6th/7th Battalion in May 1916 and then reduced to a Training Cadre in June 1918. A Charles Young Adamson is listed in the Gazette of 20 January 1915 as Temporary Quartermaster, with the honorary rank of Lieutenant, 23rd Battalion (4th Tyneside Scottish), Northumberland Fusiliers.

    He died on 17 September 1918, and is buried in Karasouli Military Cemetery, Greece [Grave No F.1293].

    The uncapped English utility back C Y Adamson who was killed during World War One, was ever present during the British Lions' 3-1 series win over Australia in 1899

    You're welcome .... did you notice it was the Northumberland Fusiliers ?? so it's an old photo !!

    Played for Durham against 1905 All Blacks. Toured Australia with 1899 British Lions (3-0-1). Played one cricket match for Queensland v NSW Nov 1899, scoring 0 and 10. Played Minor Counties with Durham 1895-1914. Captained Durham against 1912 Australians and scored 65 in first innings. Also played against 1907 South Africans. Scored unbeaten 50 for Durham v MCC at Lords in 1898. Father and two sons played for Durham.
