How did Switzerland manage to stay out of it?

They're right there, next to Germany, they have quite a big ethnic German minority, and their banks held vast sums of money even back in those days, so why didn't the Germans try to invade them and plunder all the wealth they had?

I thought this exact topic was just covered 2-6 weeks ago.

It was not in Germany' interest to have to conquer and occupy Helvinia (Switzerland). Militarily it would have been tough to conquer. There was threat the Swiss would collapse RR tunnels and bridges. Then they would lose easy transport to Italy.

Also they would lose the use of Switzerland as an intermediary, a useful ploy for buying strategic minerals, and technology swaps. There were times when companies in the US who were barred from trading with the enemy would sell technology to Switzerland, who would sell it then to Germany.

And we all should know something of the stories of Swiss Banking.

I just got a case of déjà vu. Anyway, there is a running thread here that might be of interest. Cheers.
