The graves in the first photograph are those of two men from FA 278(A)s [s = Saxon] who died on 19 May 1918. They are: Ltn d R Joseph Heirich Juchheim, obsever, born in Schwelm on 15 September 1890; and Vfw Karl Roller, pilot, born in Freudenstein on 26 January 1890. Gareth
The graves in the last photograph are those of OfStv Karl Wipperfürth, pilot, born 9 March 1891 in Krefeld, and Hptmn Hermann Thumm, observer, born 1 January 1886 in Frankfurt am Main. The men were serving in FA 3 when killed on 9 May 1915 near Menin. Curiously, I can't find any of the names shown in photo three in Casualties of the German Air Services. Gareth
Thanks Gareth ! Interesting about picture 3 ....... I couldn't find anything either !! ( not that they're not on some list of course ! ) Annie
Found them! The names were a bit garbled, so it's no wonder they were difficult to pin down. Ltn d R Wolfgang Hertel (observer), Ltn d R Max Lohmeyer (pilot), Ltn Hellmuth von Plehn (pilot), Vfw Hugo Schriever (gunner) and Ltn d R Paul Kramer (observer) of Kampfstaffel 8/Kampfgeschwader 2, were killed on 27 May 1917 at Aussonce. The how and why might require some more research. Gareth
