    Dear Forum members

Thank you for the support on a previous thread for my new ezine - FIGHTING HIGH (had to change the name from originally planned). Very much appreciated. The link if you don't have it is via the Fighting High page on my website - Steve Darlow BSc - Military Aviation Author

Any feedback positive or negative is most welcome - it is the first issue and we will look to develop further. And if anyone does have any ideas for potential articles then please contact me through the website.

Incidentally - I though you might be interested. I have just signed another book deal with the provisional title 'Flightpath to Murder'. It concerns the murder of a downed Australian fighter pilot in Germany and the subsequent post-war investigation and trial of those concerned. Book is not due out until 2009. And some help please if you can - does anyone know if there are any surviving Australian members of 80 Squadron still alive (from April 1944 onwards).

    Thanks again for your support

    Welcome Steve!

I am unable to help you with 80sq RAF survivors as my research is only involved with those who died with the squadron. (There were six of those after April 44)

Look forward to the end result!

Is it anything along the lines of this true story?

    Hi Spidge

Have a look at the following link - if you are interested there is lots of info on the Dreierwalde case

The Dreierwalde Case. Trial of Karl Amberger. United Nations War Crimes Commission, 1947

The research I am doing however is into the case of Bill Maloney of 80 Squadron - shot down on 16 September 1944 and murdered. I am in touch with his family so have lots of info on Bill, but I am after a bit more on some of his squadron colleagues.

    Hi Steve

there isn't much I can offer but I assume you've been in touch with Squadron Leader Bartle who runs (ran?) the squadron association? I know you're a member of TOCH but have asked on rafcommands.com?

I'll ask around to see if my contacts know anyone from 80 Sqn. Nothing off the top of my head at present.

    Hi Steve,

    Welcome to the forum.

Congratulations on 'Fighting High' and the new book deal! I'm in the midst of another project myself.

To anyone reading the forum, I highly recommend visiting Steve's website and reviewing his tremendous array of titles. I have one of Steve's books on my desk beckoning to be read, but alas I'm head down preparing for a 737 course.

    Cheers

    Hey Kyt,

    Go easy on me.

I have more than one, but from where I'm sitting at the moment, there's one beckoning to be read on my desk. It arrived from Grub Street a couple of weeks back. (It's beside my signed first edition of "Down to Earth" :becky:)

    Cheers

Now I wish I could get a signed copy of Down to Earth - am still looking around.

Which book did you just receive? Was it Five of the Many? Damn good book.

    Hi Kyt,

It was actually "Five of the Few".

I tend to work backwards sometimes.

    Cheers

Ah I haven't got that one yet. I have my eye on a copy signed by all the pilots featured and will be treating myself to it soon.

Guys - great to see bragging about my books - blimey.

Just a quick bit more unabashed marketing. Kyt - If you look at the Grub Street advert on page 13 of the ezine - you'll see that you can get a copy from them of Owen's book - signed by the man himself and two veterans no less.

Thanks Steve, that takes the blame off me for suggesting books to Kyt...not that he needs any help!

Thanks Steve, I had looked at the book reviews but missed that all together. Andy is probably laughing his head off right now as he knows I can't resist.
