Can anyone find out some more about this Welsh international soccer player’s war service.

    David John Collier

Born: Llwynpia, Rhondda, 12 April, 1894
    Died: Barry, 21 February, 1973

Served at Ypres and on the Somme with the 16th Welch Regiment and was awarded a Military Medal.

Signed for Grimsby Town from Mid Rhondda in 1920 and made 44 league appearances for them in two years. Scored 13 goals and won himself a Welsh trial. Impressed enough to win one cap against Scotland in 1921, scoring on his debut. Was signed by Second Division Grimsby for £200 by his former Mid Rhondda manage, Haydn Price.
Returned to the Welsh League (South) and played for Llanelly Town, Mid Rhondda and Barry Town.
He was also a very good cricketer and changed from being a miner to an electrical fitter after the war.
