I was saddened to hear the news that George Monk has crossed the bar. George died on 1st December 2008 at the age of 91. Torpedoed twice during WWII on ss AUDITOR and ss LA PAZ, he was always happy to share his experiences and to help people like me.

George, along with colleague Peter Barber, (both Marconi R.O.s) researched, compiled and produced a Memorial Register of 1,408 British Radio Officers who were killed in WW2. He was a true gentleman, a kind and very knowledgeable man who couldn't do enough to help. My condolences to all his family and friends

Fair winds and calm seas now, George. RIP
