    This is one of a series of posts to mark the international Rugby players who served in, and survived, The Great War. If anyone has further information on the men concerned, I’d be most grateful if it could be added to the thread.

    Jones, Charles William played for Wales

    Internationals: 3 : 1920 E+ S- F+

    Charles Jones was born on 18 June 1893

    Played as a Flanker for: Bridgend, Newport, Birkenhead Park, Leicester, The Army, Harlequins, Cheshire.

    Profession: The Army/schoolmaster

    War service: Sergeant Major, The Welsh Regiment

    Remarks: Played four times for the Mother Country XV during the King’s Cup in 1919, and was the first non-officer to play for The Army. After joining Birkenhead Park he played for Cheshire. Physical Education teacher at Birkenhead School.

    He died on 19 January 1960, in Birkenhead Park, Cheshire.
