I am carrying out some research on behalf of my Godfather and have joined this site (because I have found quite alot of information already from here) in the hope that someone may be able to offer me some assistance in the next stage of my search. My Godfather served in the R.E.M.E. and was attached to the XRH 'C' Sqn in September 1954 when he joined them at Tidworth.He sailed on the 'EMPIRE KEN' in January 1956 as part of the advance party on their posting to Jordan. He stayed with the XRH stationed at Ma'an in Jordan, and although being a member of the R.E.M.E ran the cinema at the station in Ma'an for the duration of his service there. Some of his friends and close comrades perished on an aircraft which crashed upon take off from Aqaba in 1957,(researching which brought me to the site) I managed to access enough information from here (thread 'middle east air crash') which enabled me to find further information via links etc. Following on from that I would now like to contact anyone that served at that time in Jordan and of course especially remembers him. His name is Alan Hunns, apparently known as 'Flash' (he tells me because he never hurried to do anything and age hasn't changed him ) Can anyone help?? Should anyone be able to assist me in any way it would be most appreciated
Hey Tigger. Afraid I can't help you with tracking down old comrades. However there are two places you can try straight off. Maybe get your Godfather registered on Forces Reunited. The other option is to contact the REME Association and try and track ex service personnel down that way.
Many many thanks for your suggestions. I have him registered on Friends reunited so hope that something will come of that. He certainly is interesting
Make sure you register at Forces Reunited as it is a separate site and the Friends registration won't mean a damn thing.
