    This is one of a series of posts to mark the international Rugby players who died during The Great War. If anyone has further information on the men concerned, I’d be most grateful if it could be added to the thread.

    Internationals: 11: 1911 E-, 1912 F+ W- E+ SA- ; 1913 F+ W- I+ E- ; 1914 W- I-

    David Bain was born on 10 September 1891, in Edinburgh, the son of William and Edith Bain of Edinburgh.

    Played as a Prop for: Edinburgh Academy, Oxford University (Blue 1910-1913).

    Profession: The Army

    War service: Captain, 3rd Battalion, Gordon Highlanders, attached to 2nd Battalion, 20th Brigade, 7th Division.

    He was killed in action on 3 June 1915, at Festubert, and is buried in Brown’s Road Military Cemetery, Festubert, Pas de Calais, France [VIII. F.14.].
