92 years ago today, on 9th September 1916, the Somme campaign was at its height. On the same day, the civic War Memorial was unveiled in Prescot. One of the first war memorials in the country, the memorial initially had blank panels which were inscribed after the war with the names of 170+ local men who had fallen in the war. Now their tale, and that of over 130 other local men who are not on the memorial, is told on a new web site. Home Page
