    "American air base" = RAFMildenhall.

What a pity that the only people who were able to celebrate on the base were the (principally) American service personnel and their families stationed there.

One could be forgiven for thinking that the yanks have ALWAYS been there, but RAF Bomber Command used it right through 1939-45 and after.

There was a better feature on 'About Anglia news' but their website is down. They had film of spitfire etc flypast, and interview with Bomber vet. Pity.!!!
