I was wondering if anyone else has read Slaughter House 5, it's a science fiction novel that follows the life of a soldier named Billy Pilgrim. The novel has some very interesting commentary on WWII and the firebombing of Dresden in Germany. Do you guys have any thoughts on the novel if you've read it? or just on the fire bombing of Dresden?

I've read it, Vonnegut's descriptions of the war are startling and very dark. He has sort of a subtle way of discussing the tragedies, but somehow still conveys his emotions on them very well. The main character is also so deceptively hurt by those experiences almost without understanding it. I think it's got some very interesting commentary on PTSD, long before we really understood that sort of thing.

yes i have read it. Vonnegut writes in a very gloomy fashion but is spot on about general warfare and its affects on soldiers.
