I think The Battle of Lexington and Concord is inspiring. "The Shot Heard Round the World," was fired. I think it was the point of no return in which the British realized the revolution was at hand. Here is a link to a simple explanation of the battle:

I really like the Battle of Trenton. It was a surprise coup pulled off by Washington at a time when the colonials badly needed a victory to get them through their morale problems.

There are a lot, but my favorite has always been Fort Ticonderoga. In fact, you could hardly call it a a battle, but it's a great story. The capture of the fort did have an impact on the British lines of communication, but the real impact was in the armaments that the Green Mountain Boys captured and delivered to the Continental Army which were essential in driving the British out of Boston.

I'll go with The Battle of Bunker Hill. It took out a good deal of the British field staff, and was the encounter with the largest number of British casualties in the war. It might be that some reports of the battle, sent overseas to England may have caused King George to reject the Olive Branch Petition completely.

My favorite battle has got to be the Battle of Concord. The fact that the minutemen were able to force the British to retreat by firing from bushes and cover just went to show how the British weren't in fact invincible.
