I've met people who survived German concentration camps, Russian concentration camps, and Japanese concentration camps. All had large numbers of people die around them and were treated subhuman. I've talked to Palestinians who families are concentrated into an area and are systematically culled. There has always been a lot of genocide going on in this world. It is not just a Jewish thing, they just seem to get more publicity out of it. Jews did the genocide when they entered the promised land around the time of Moses if I remember my old testament correctly. I believe the concentration camps in Germany killed millions of people. Poles, gypsies, religious dissidents, and Jews. Of course I also believe we landed on the moon and there are probably aliens in flying saucers. The pertinent question to be is not did a holocaust happen but how should we do things differently because of that? Does the US subsidize Israel forever and fight all of the Arab countries for it because of this?
The Holocaust did happen. There is so much evidence to refute that it didn't. How can one possibly believe it didn't happen? There are official records of the deaths of over 6 million people due to the German military. The Iranian president is a complete idiot. He seems to think it never happened, and that all the video and pictures were fabricated to make it look worse than it was. Try telling it to our heroes who returned from these camps after being captured as POW's.
I agree. Not only did the Holocaust happen, it was one of the worst attempts at genocide in human history. When man stops trying to conquer and learn to get along with his fellow man, the world will be a much better place. In the last 3,000 years there has been a war somewhere in the world at least every 3 years. This is really a sad statistic.
I do believe millions Jews died during WWII, but there are also 20 million Russians, 20~30 million Chinese and millions other nationals were killed by the Axis powers during the same period. It is not like the Jews were getting any "special" treatment. Most of the Israelis today were not even put through that part of the history, and they are getting $3 billion a year from the U.S. government to keep Arabs in check... Almost all of the Jews who experienced Holocaust were dead.
I don't think the conflict between the Arabs and Israelis is even remotely similar to the Holocaust and it makes me very suspicious when someone puts it in that context. Sane people don't doubt that the Holocaust occurred, and while it is also true that more millions of Russians, Chinese, Polish, and others were killed than Jews, it is equally true that the Germans did single out Jews for "special treatment."
We do have to remember the many other millions who died as well, as Vash stated. Russia took the highest death toll in the war. They lost over 10 million soldiers and 10 million civilians.
The world is a village. The super powers think everyone has to behave in the way the approve. We have to become tolerant of others customs. Instead of fighting for natural resources, we should be developing our own.
The interesting thing about the Soviet Union is that it's difficult to distinguish how many of those millions died at the hands of Germans, and how much blood Stalin had on his hands. If you stretch it back into the 30s, I believe that clearly Stalin killed more people. A while back I had an interesting conversation with a couple of Russian friends, and they were telling me that they thought that Stalin was more evil than Hitler, because what Stalin did was against his own people. Now, I don't agree with drawing comparisons like that, you can't really say which genocide was "worse" and I dread these "Top Ten Genocides in World History" type articles that I sometimes see, because I think it cheapens the suffering and it almost inevitably comes off as an insult to one group or another, or all of them. But it was an interesting point that my friends made, and it's too easy to forget what level of tyranny the people of the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe suffered under Stalin because they were one of the "Allies" in the war.
I believe it. Stalin did horrible things to his people. The Soviet government was tyrannical just like Hitler. I think that near end of the war, Russia did everything they could to help the allies win. Much of that came at a high cost.
That war is over, but yet man continues to find other places to start wars. Killing and destruction will never stop.
You're right. It's in human nature. There will always be war. Look at the world around us right now. In the middle east, there is constant war. We're winding down two wars right now in the U.S.
If anybody doubts that the Holocaust really happened then I recommend they take a visit to the concentration camp at Auschwitz in Poland. It has been left intact just as the Allies found it in 1945, with all the crematoria, gas chambers where the cyclone gas was thrown into the "showers" where men, women and children were sent, piles of human hair and possessions of the victims, etc etc etc. Just as the Allies found it, with the exception of the inmates, either dead, alive or walking dead. That way you can get within 2 miles of it without being overcome by the stench of the place. I am at an utter loss to explain how mankind can be so wretchedly cruel as to create a hell on earth as these camps were.
I did not know they kept Auschwitz preserved. I plan on going to Europe next summer and this is a top place on my list to visit. I would like to visit to learn more about the camp and the war itself.
I feel sorry for the Romani, Gypsies. Percentage wise they lost as much or more of their population than the Jews, but they're totally ignored. In regards to Israel today. Many of their leaders grew up with the fear of the holocaust as their parents had been through it five or ten years before they were born. Combined With the multiple wars and threats from their neighbors I can sympathize a bit with them being paranoid. Although they have and do sometimes go beyond the bounds of self defense.
Yes, it did happen. And everyone who says it didn't happen deserves to be called an idiot. Why would anyone say something like that? People died, and that's the only truth. And when people die it's never good.

There's an extensive collection of evidence that this infamous event during World War II happened. I think many people doubt the reality of the holocaust because there was no master plan or national policy to annihilate the Jews and other cultural minorities in Germany and German-occupied nations. In addition, many doubters claim that there were no gas chambers used to kill the Jews. Let's not forget the fact that the fleeing Germans set all the death camps, with the exception of Auschwitz, on fire to deliberately eradicate any evidence of the mass murder of Jews. Before the holocaust, we should not forget that there were large-scale killings of Jews using guns and bullets across German-occupied nations. To deny the holocaust is to forget the tens of thousands Jews who were victims of bigotry.
This is always a sad question to me. With all the evidence (video, pictures, records, oral accounts and so on and so forth) this question should never have even formed in someones mind. Sometimes even if you are one of the biggest conspiracy theorists there are things which just can not be disputed. The Holocaust is on of those things. I feel weird even discussing it as it feels as if i am disrespecting millions of people. Not just the deceased but those still alive today with numbers tattooed on both their hearts and their souls.
What about the Serbs? Almost a million of them were exterminated by the Nazis and the UstaĊĦe. However, I doubt whether the Serbs, Roma.etc lost as much as the Jews. Jews lost some 40% of their population. The Roma (if I am correct) lost somewhere around one-third. Still... I have to agree that while the Jews gained a lot during the post-war years due to the sympathy wave, the Roma gained absolutely nothing.
