    My father john baxter served with the re in ww2 and from anacdotal evience i have i believe he landed on d day. how can i find what he did? i know he was corporal and i have a picture of him under the arche de triumphe in paris with some yanks. can anyone help? regards john baxter

    Hi John,
    First you need to find out what unit he was in. By any chance, is he still with us? If not then you have to do this the hard way. You will need to get his records from the MOD which i believe is taking as long as 9 months to get. This will give you his unit which you can then contact the RE's museum and ask them if they could give you the details of where this unit was on 6th June 1944.
