After all the rhetoric about being nice to the French, they really are a pack of Ars***les when all is said and done. They do so hate the British no matter what is usually stated politically.

It is not that it is a Franco - American affair they have made it so and snubbed the British people who without their hospitality for the massing of men and machinery it would have not been possible.

I nearly forgot the 83,000+ British and Canadian troops, who without the Royal Navy "assisting" would not have got there, and the RAF who blasted the "shout" and ensured the lads got off the beach.......................

I can't be bothered saying anymore.........................it infuriates me!

I don't know who it is that wrote that, but they are damn right. France can go drown itself the next time it is invaded.

French being totally unreasonable again, IMHO the British have the natural right to be a equal partner in all D Day events. As it was probably one if the most important day and battle of the Second World War and the soldiers of Britain and Canada gave so many lives to make it successful

All American event, a lovely man I knew who died recently was a RN DEMS gunner. He ended up running the landing craft at Omaha Beach. You know, the American beach where only Americans were present? Pfft!

Not really for the Daily Express usually but did find this interesting

Sunday Express | UK News :: EXCLUSIVE: Brown to be grilled over D-Day fiasco

*I do find it rather ironic that the Brown governemnt has failed the veterans so many times considering Brown wrote Wartime Courage: Stories of Extraordinary Courage by Ordinary People in World War Two: Gordon Brown: Amazon.co.uk: Books

    His arrogance knows no bounds!!!!

    Quote from the BBC website

BBC NEWS | UK | Queen 'welcome at D-Day service'

The event was intended for prime ministers and presidents rather than royals, Mr Brown added.

I thought it was to honour the brave men who participated!

"But if the queen wanted to attend these events or if any member of the royal family wanted to attend these events, I would make that possible," he said.

Mr Brown would make it possible!!!! for the Queen or another senior Royal to attend!!!!

I hope that she does go, and with her usual grace and dignity shames the politicians, giving pleasure and recognition to old servicemen and their families.

That's exactly what confounds me about Brown. He has written those books and obviously done the leg work for them and yet he continues to embarrass and shame his govt by complete ignorance towards those who served and the memory of those who gave their lives.

It sickens me to think that there is politics involved here with Mr Brown however the longer it goes on the more I think he was looking to make it him in the photo spread.

The wording that threw the "shout" at the fan was that it has always been a "Franco - American celebration".

Brown must have gone into fire control after that statement!

Maybe we will have to see how much of it sticks!
