'All clear for the guns'

    Some interesting posters there David. I myself work in a rail-freight depot, (I'm not a train-spotter BTW) I've heard that being a rail worker during the war meant you where exempt from the draft. Do you know if that's true?

    Yes, railway workers were in reserved occupations, as were farmers, miners, dock workers, and a host of other industtries that were essential to the war effort.

    Some occupations gave their employees special badges to be worn on the kapel so that the public didn't think that they were shirking their duty - I have several types given to De Havilland workers
