That is very interesting. My grandmother remembered seeing a plane (a fighter - she said it was German but I am a bit doubtful) crash into Plymouth Sound when she was on the Hoe during the war. I know there are a couple of confirmed crashes in the area, but I wasn't aware of this one. There are also quite a few ships that were torpedoed when coming into port, like the James Egan Lane which sank in Whitsand Bay when being towed into Plymouth.
