This site forms part of the Documenting the South project managed by the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. It provides access to a wealth of digitised primary resource materials relating to the impact of the First World War (1914-1918) on the population of North Carolina and the US federal and state government. Issues considered include: military recruitment, patriotism and propaganda, the impact of the war on civilians and the home front, the lives of American soldiers and women and the war. Digitised images of letters, propaganda posters, prints and oral histories are accessible.
