    Took off 1812 hrs Lissett. Shot down by the 3rd battery Marineflakabteilung 815 on Vlieland-West and observed to turn SW before crashing 2115 hrs some 17 to 18 km from the battery, falling vertically and on fire into the sea.

    Took off 2247 hrs Waterbeach tasked to destroy railway and stores depot. On the home leg, intercepted and shot down by a nigh-fighter, crashing in a near vertical dive some 3 km SW of Chaumont-en-Vexin (Oise) 25 km SW of Beauvais.

    Training

    Took off Upwood for a low-level (between 500 and 600 feet) navigation exercise, base-Gillingham-Stratford-upon-Avon-Hungerford-Cottesmore-base. While flying on the second leg, the crew strayed 15 miles off track and at 1028 hrs the starboard wingtip was sliced off by a barrage balloon cable in the Birmingham defensive area. Out of control the aircraft crashed.

    There are no next-of-kin details appended against P/O. De Meillac, but it is possible he came from Belgium.

    Whilst engaged in bombing operations against the Japanese forces in the Andaman Islands, this aircraft was shot down and crashed into the Bay of Bengal between Bunting and Andaman Island.

    Took off 1152 hrs Kinloss for a cross-country which at 1240 hrs ended in scenes of terrible devastation in the vicinity of Bank Head Farm, Humble, some eight miles SS of Haddington in East Lothian. Eyewitnesses report the Wellington cruising at around 5,000 feet when the overcast sky was lit by a flash, followed by an explosion and debris raining down. (accident investigators concluded that the outer section of the starboard wing sheared away)

    The weather closed in without warning and made it impossible to land at base. The aircraft made a forced-landing in a paddy field when fuel ran low but the aircraft struck a bund wall and caught fire.
