With other sites looking at or having complete a redesign I though I would too, one that works :)

So lets have some ideas on colour scheme and header ideas, so I can get to work.

Are there any templates or example that we could refer to. personally I like uncluttered. WW2F failed because they are over ambitious with side pictures etc

But a distinctive colour would be good

I notice as well that ww2f is still not fixed, looks damn awful

I like the idea of black, but maybe change the words to a little brighter as its a bugger on the eyes. Black looks so...smart.

Black is a bit dark as a background? Perhaps as part of the overall design though?

But a black background makes my avi look so stylish! ;)

Yes, black and red works very well together. I seem to recall you using a grey with black for a Holocaust/Nazi site you were developing? Maybe something like that?

And there was a background called Blakice which was very good.

I have to admit that this look gets a bit tiresome after a couple of hours. Really good for today, But something a little more muted for colours and use pictures or something to populate the borders. How about flags - allies on one side - axis on the other?

I do like the small icons, like the bats etc before the thread titles. Could we so something WW2 themed?

I feel like I'm in a parallel universe because my screen background is white. I've black text with blue names which go magenta after I have clicked on them.

I like the screen when there is the least extraneous information particularly if it is a long post with closely typed text.

It is also quite nice to be able to change the presentation with the drop down menu.

p.s. what do the ratings mean and who allocates them?
p.p.s. Has anyone else got gremlins moving the screen up and down?

What ratings are you referring to?

The screen moving up and down is a fault with VB, they are fixing it in the next release, only happens on certain browsers

Lee to the left of, in this case, your name there is a blue paperclip on a black background. Underneath this there are three gold and two blue stars on a black background.

I could have just said the ratings by some threads on the Portal Menu, couldn't I?

Do you mean the ratings star like this CTNana?

    Hi Kyt
Yes to the stars but paperclip seems to have a life of its own in that it is there sometimes and not others.

Is that what your screen looks like? Mine looks almost like a negative of that.

Yes, just for today that's the colour scheme that I see.

The paperclip that you're referring to indicates that that particular thread has attachments. Those without paperclips means no attachments and just contain text or embedded images. That's all

rather strange that your browser isn't showing the same as ours. We had a look at all your settings that we could this end and they are identical to a lot of members. I'm afraid it maybe something on your end but have no idea what it could be.

I meant that the paperclips come and go on the same thread willy-nilly.

So who allocates the ratings stars to the thread?

My main concern would be to be distinctive from the "old site", which is grey/green, and our (pre-halloween) colours were too similar. A bit of red and blue perhaps?

Is the Halloween scheme a standard vbulletin option or is it all your own work?! If the former, how much scope do we have for design? Basically I would say keep it simple and uncluttered, but maybe something representing all the main services - land, sea, air, not too clearly biased to one or other nation, and perhaps a holocaust image if you consider that to be a major area of the site.
