      Hugh,
I noticed you have the boom defence vessel: "Mary White" listed in one of your messages. Would you have or ... could you tell me where I could possibly get a photo of this vsl.
Interest : I joined this trawler(by then renamed "Luffness" home port Granton) as a 15 year old in 1956 and was aboard her when she was lost off the north breakwater of Aberdeen port in Jan 1958.
      Regards.... from an old seadog.......

      Hi Hugh,
all I knew was that he was a fellow researcher on the scrounge. I did send him a copy of the photograph though.
Yes it was sad that Roger never replied to my letter. Not the first and I don't suppose he will be the last. I have had mutually beneficial contact with Jurgen Rohwer and Alberto Santoni for quite a few years.
Perhaps Roger is working on a 2nd Edition of the book. Those of us who spent good money on the first Edition will probably resist the temptation this time.
This is why I am still working on my two Catalogues of Escapers and Evaders. The whole project is at the moment undergoing a total re-format until I am totally happy with it.

      Best Wishes Brian

      Hi Hugh,
I put an advance order in for the Book which I had to wait for as it was late with the Publication date.
My personal thoughts are that Roger could have taken more time before giving a Publication date. Like yourself I have found mistakes and Omissions that could probably have been avoided if more time had been taken with the project.
I did write,in a polite and non critical manner regarding one particular omission but never got a reply.

Have you ever come across a man called John Prescott who's interests are ships of the B&I Line. He made contact some years ago regarding a ship called the Chakdina that was sunk in 1941. He was after a photograph of the ship I had from a private collection.

      Best Wishes
      Brian

      Hi Hugh,
I wondered if you have a copy of the Worlds Merchant Fleets 1939 by Roger Jordan,if so have you found it wanting.
