hi dave I have found campions family - having lost your email until now - what chance of finding out where he would have trained - he came from ireland and has two numbers 536151 (marked in one part of the file as 536451) - how did you get the record for johnson - as they will only give the record to the NOK - who at this time is not known what other way is there to get his record do you think. my other query is John Archibald beckett from NI cheers marion
Keith - I'm glad I could increase your vocabulary. But it's not really my glory to claim as all I did was paste in a quote containing the word: & from the Scotch College Archives: Lieutenant Leon Brooke Bates VX86174 (V158053) - eventually posted to 101 Heavy Mortar Company. The unit was set up to counteract the possibility of the enemy indulging in chemical warfare. Leon’s chemical engineering knowledge was thought to be useful in this area. Fortunately chemical warfare did not eventuate and 101 Heavy Mortar Company became a ‘normal’ unit seeing service in the Pacific, notably in Bougainville. Eventuate - To come out finally or in conclusion; to result; to come to pass
Hi Dave, Thanks for adding a new word to my vocabulary. I had never come across the use of eventuate. Cheers Keith
