70 years ago this morning, 156,000 men of the Allied forces landed on the shores of Normandy to begin to drive the German army from occupied France. I just wanted to take a moment to remember those who served on that day, we owe them everything.
Yeah. Let us off our hats for a minute right here in this Forum, for who are reading this thread, may be the best way to honor Their Sacrifice .. right at this moment !
I've been thinking about this today, too... and yes, we certainly owe it all to them. Thank you for reminding everyone here that it's a special day in military history.
If it weren't for our American Armada's fleet of navy ships we would all be speaking German. It was, in fact, the largest armada in human history. If it weren't for them ,these United States would have no democracy. None of us would have the right to visit our churches, and etc. Thank God for their sailing toward, landing on, and fighting on those beaches.

I think it was pretty crazy that the Japanese attacked the US, as soon as they did it WWII was lost for them because the US added a lot of power to the allies...
Three friends of mine, all former colleagues in the 1st Royal Tank Regiment (1RTR), are currently in Normandy with a "jeep". They are following the route taken by 1 RTR in Normandy during 1944.
It must be something impressive to return to the war scene so much time after the war. I am glad they are happy to see it in a peace climate no?
