I hope I am putting this in the correct place.

We visited Slapton Beach in Devon last week.
Thought you would like to see some photo's of the tank.

They were painting it while we were there.

Beautiful views at Slapton. So sad to think so many life's were lost there.

Thanks for these photos Sgt; I was there with my family in 2004 and remember it well.

Further up the beach is an obelisk which is a memorial to all the troops who trained at Slapton Sands and died during that time and on or after D-Day. While I was looking at it, some ignorant so-and-so was going on about how it was all a cock-up and a farce etc, etc. Afterwards I wish I had asked him whether he thought the D-Day landings were a cock-up. The trouble is that if you mention Slapton Sands people remember Operation Tiger, not D-Day. Of course Tiger was a tragedy and a disaster for those involved and their families, but it was still a small incident in the bigger scheme of things. And it tends to be a target for those who prefer to blame the British establishment for everything, rather than their country's enemies.

I saw it on the local news tonight. Their were two survivors talking, one was so choked up he had me in tears.

Yes Adrian you always get ignorant so and so's.

I bought Ken Small's book on eBay for 29p.
