I hope I am not breaking any rules but could I suggest to anyone looking for something to read that there is a great and at times very funny story written
by a present day german officer about his grandfather's chest.
The story appears in the classic thread of The Great War forum and is under the title of " This is the secret of of my grand dad's trunk " It will take a couple of hours to read.

Definitely more than a couple of hours :) .... and make sure you have a box of tissues handy ( even the macho types needed them !! )

Thanks John for the reminder ... I used to wait every night for the next installment - funny how that one thread seemed to bring a lot of nationalities and different opinions together !!

I think if he ever decided to make a book out of it - it would become a best seller. I glad others have seen it and enjoyed the story.

Read some of it a while ago but clearly need to do so again. Brilliant stuff.
