Hi Everyone! It was nice to find a community dedicated to WW II history like I am. My name is Steve Terjeson and I run World War II History and the blog World War II History. I have always loved history, and military history most of all. I actually had a minor in world history. I enjoy studying and collecting WWII tidbits, stories, photos etc. They hold a lot of meaning for me from family stories as well. I wanted to try and do my part in collecting and preserving as much of the WWII history as I can because we are coming to the turning point of it being no longer living history. Great to see you here Steve. My fascination is WWI, discovered as I was tracing my grandfathers' roots but I have started to plug away at WWII as I now have my parent's WWII records. Much easier to research WWI here in Canada since the records are released under the 90 year rule. Still tough to do WWII but it would be great if we could. I run the Matrix Project that has a focus on helping others figure out how the Canadian forces were structured in WWI. It is great to be able to help out the WWII veterans, most of whom are past computer age, to get the details on their parents. Richard Laughton, Canada
Welcome. What sort of photos do you collect? I saw some interesting 3-D photos (the kind of side-by-side that you look at through a viewer) put out by the Nazi's as books. Some concerned the Olympics, others art and architecture. They really had a thing for 3-D pictures. MK
I collect any photos from the period really, but my favorite are planes and ships. I know what you are talking about with the 3-D photos. I have seen a couple of the Olympics as well, but I don't have any personally unfortunately. Here's a non 3-D Olympics photo however

You've probably checked out the National Archives for WWII photos. The film I made used clips from training films obtained there, and I know they have some really amazing photos of airplanes...terrific large format black and white on the decks of aircraft carriers and so forth. I have seen quite a bit of what they have online. Footnote actually has published many of the NARA photos online for free that the NARA doesnt have posted. Browse Original Documents
