WW2 North Sea bomb tolls since 1945

    The 8th USAAF had a designated jettison area in the North Sea at a point 50 miles E of Southwold, Suffolk.

    I dread to think how many thousands of tons of HE and IB loads were dropped here during 1944 and 1945.

    And after the war thousands of tonnes of munitions were dumped in the Irish Sea and off the Bristol Channel - again one dreads to imagine the long term consequences.
