A rather pathetic story about a rather pathetic woman. Nation & World | Horrific WWII memoir a hoax | Seattle Times Newspaper and 'Wolf woman' invents Holocaust survival tale - Telegraph
its sad, that she had to invent a fantasy of her life. I am sure the story of her parents in the Belguim resistence would have been good enough.
Pathetic would be an appropriate term. I would still be weary of the story even if I hadn't been aware of the fact it was fake. Seriously.... protected by a pack of wolves? hwell:
Ah, good point morse....Touchette. :fencing: I can accept Roman mythology for what it is. ....Nevertheless, I don't see how the reader could take what this women wrote and seriously believe it. :noidea:
This is it, if you look at the vast amount of books or even films that have been produced on history or as "true stories" and have passed into the collective mind by were in fact flawed. For example, I got the video of "we were soliders" with Mel Gibson which was based on a "true story, and it came to the scene were Joe Galloway turns up. Something clicked and a litle voice said that was wrong! I then went to "The Shining Lie" by Neil Sheenan and in it he talks about landing at LZ Xray with Joe and another correspondent. I then went on the internet and downloaded the After Action report on the battle and finally managed to get a copy of the book. Now the video is kept at the bottom of a pile and seen as being a good adventure movie! So, I think it is worth having a slightly cynical view when reading or even ffor that matter, watching news reports and newspapers! I thought just occured to me, is there not a thread about "The long Walk" about the man who walked from captivity to freedom via india and persia, and nw it seems that a researcher could not find any trace of him at the places he was suppossed to have visited in his travels.
It's amazing that some people feel the need to make stuff up when they could just as easily write about someone who is unsung - that woman's parents for example.
