    It'd be great if it really is the Amber hoard. But why didn't the Luftwaffe signaller go looking for it if he had the co-ordinates?

    How close did the Germans get to Leningrad? I thought they didn't quite get there and the place was besieged, hence the "Leningrad Concerto" and all that. Was the Palace just outside the city?

    My eldest brother's late father in law, used to claim that he buried ten thousand cigerettes in the libyian desert when they were pulling back. he even said he had the map references but never went back to claim his ill gotten gains!

    10,000?! That's worth a small fortune now. And if they were Army-issue then they've probably improved with age :becky:

    They would be the ones that they got in the compo rations in tins! I must ask my brother what happended to the papers with a grid references! might be worrth a visit!

    Think of it this way, losing 10,000 cigarettes probably saved someones life from canser.
